“Subpoena power; production of books and records
“Sec. 1. Whenever pursuant to a resolution of the general assembly or either house thereof and pursuant to the authority vested in the general assembly or either house thereof an investigation is instituted in aid of its proper legislative functions, the house of representatives or the senate, or any committee of either or of both of said houses to which the duty of said investigation shall be entrusted, shall have the power to subpoena witnesses, send for and compel the production of books, records, papers and documents” (IC 2-4-1-1).
“Administration of oaths
“Sec. 1. The chairman, or acting chairman for the time being, of any committee appointed by either house or by the joint action of the two (2) houses, of the general assembly of this state be and is hereby authorized to administer all oaths necessary to be administered to witnesses testifying or called to testify before such committee” (IC 2-4-2-1).
