Purpose/Jurisdiction #
“The purpose of the Administrative Rules Committee of the Oklahoma House of Representatives is to review all rules promulgated by the various state agencies, boards, and commissions to verify that they have statutory authority to make the related rules and that those rules fulfill the intent of the legislature. If the rules meet both of those standards and don’t have some other type of conflict, we will approve them. If they do not, we have the authority to disapprove in whole or in part or to request that the agency, board, or commission withdraw those rules and draft changes to make them satisfactory. This same process is followed by the Oklahoma Senate. When an agreement is reached with the Senate, we file resolutions for a vote in each chamber before forwarding to the Governor for final approval” (submitted by committee chair, June 2023; Title 75, Administrative Procedures, Oklahoma Statutes).
