New Civic Education Classroom Materials

Today, our civic education team has added two NEW resources to our civic education library!

The Levin Center is bringing high-quality, inquiry-driven educational materials to high school Civics and U.S. History classrooms around the state. Our Learning by Hearings education resources use the lens of legislative oversight to enable students to take the lead in the classroom by inviting them to ask questions, interrogate materials, and interpret history from their own point of view.

New Classroom Resources

How the Media Connects Oversight to the Public

In this lesson, students will investigate the relationship between the media and oversight investigations. Students will then use this evidence to answer the question, “How important is the media in informing the public about government activities?” Download includes lesson plan and all student materials.

In this lesson students will explore the importance of trust in the relationship between Congress and the Presidency. Through primary source excerpts from the landmark Fulbright hearings, as well as news reports and previously classified materials, students will be asked to answer, “How important is it that Congress and the President trust each other?”
