Burleson grew up in Eaton Rapids, MI. She earned both her bachelor’s in interdisciplinary studies in social science with a minor in Spanish and her master’s in teaching and curriculum from Michigan State University. While there, Burleson was a member of the Spartan Marching Band, student government and Tau Beta Sigma.
Burleson taught secondary social studies in Lansing, Mason and Kalamazoo, MI. She is an alumnus of the YMCA Michigan Youth in Government program, where she also worked on staff from 2017-2020. Burleson is excited to work towards expanding the Levin Center’s Youth and Government program, and other youth program partnerships across the U.S., and to explore how to best teach young people about civil discourse and legislative oversight.
